PL50 Portable Shaft Lathe Machine
SPOWER portable shaft lathes bring precision turning capabilities directly to the job site. Ideal for repairing shafts, pins, and other cylindrical components without the need for disassembly or transportation to a workshop. Our portable lathes are designed for durability, accuracy, and ease of operation in demanding industrial environments.
On-Site Turning for Shafts that Cannot Be Removed
The PL50 portable shaft lathe brings turning capability to the job site for shafts, pins and other cylindrical parts that are too large or too costly to dismantle and transport. It clamps onto the workpiece and turns worn journals, bearing seats and shaft ends in place, restoring roundness and a clean running surface without removing the shaft from its machine.
Typical work includes restoring a worn bearing seat on a pump or motor shaft, truing a journal that has picked up metal, facing a shaft end and finishing a weld build-up back to nominal size. Because the lathe is portable, it can be moved between jobs and used for planned maintenance as well as emergency breakdowns.

Supply, Training and After-Sales Support
- •The PL50 is delivered as a complete kit with the turning frame, tool holders and cutting tools in a transport case.
- •Setting up on the workpiece is explained in an English manual covering alignment and tool setting.
- •Guidance is provided on choosing the right tool and cutting approach for the shaft material and amount of wear.
- •Spare and wear parts are available as separate items, including tool holders and inserts.
- •Support helps confirm that the shaft diameter and wear pattern fall within the working range before purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
What shaft size can the PL50 portable lathe machine?
The PL50 turns diameters from 20 mm to 200 mm over a maximum turning length of 500 mm.
Does the shaft have to be dismantled?
No. The lathe clamps onto the workpiece, so the shaft can stay in place while the worn section is turned back to size.
Can it finish a welded-up shaft?
Yes. After a worn journal has been built up by welding, the PL50 can turn the build-up back to the required diameter and roundness on site.
